  • All rates are for the entire boat and are subject to change without notice prior to actual reservation

  • Marina dockage if applicable upon the request of the charter guests is not included in the rates

Crew Profile

If you can’t find Jens or Ashley on board S/V Flip Flop preparing a gourmet meal or otherwise seeing to their guests, you are sure to find them nearby, in or under the water. Both have a strong passion for the freedom and adventure of sailing as well as the great outdoors and its wonders. They were both drawn to the ocean at an early age.

Originally from San Diego, Capt. Jens knew from the time of his first sailing lesson that his calling would be shaped by the sea. From Hobie Cat racing and scuba diving as a teenager, to serving as a Patrol Boat Captain in the U.S. Navy, his calling and connection to the ocean has always been there.
Once his service in the Navy was up, he immediately took up teaching sailing and delivering sailboats around the Caribbean.
Eventually, he made his way onto larger luxury Yachts and found himself in places like the South Pacific, the Mediterranean and South America just to name a few.
After a few years on larger yachts, Jens decided that the more personal and friendly nature of smaller charter yachts was more to his liking. He loves one on one time with guests and teaching sailing to anyone who wants to learn.
Captain Jens has over 20,000 miles at sea. He is a U.S. Coast Guard 100 ton Master Captain as well as a PADI divemaster and is commercially endorsed as an Offshore Yachtmaster. He also has a U.S. driver’s license that he never uses;)
Jens looks forward to teaching you to sail also loves Kite Boarding and would be more than willing to take you to all of the Kite Boarding “Hot Spots” in the Virgin Islands while guiding you through the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean!

Ashley is from Salt Lake City, Utah, and has spent time growing up all over the United States. Travel was important to her large family, and the roots of that experience have kept Ashley in adventure her entire life. She has travelled the world extensively and has spent time cooking with Master Chefs in the cuisines of French, Thai, Indian and Latin Influence. Her professional career includes 12 years of serving fine dishes and culminated in her opportunity as chef aboard the inspiring Arabella, a 170’ schooner.
She is the oldest of five girls, and began cooking with her mother at a young age. Her hospitality is the result of a traditional upbringing that stems from South Carolina. An example to her younger sisters, she was introduced to the piano and cello at the age of five, eventually she became a champion swimmer and was also Captain of the Cheerleading squad in Highschool. She graduated from Endicott College on the coast of Massachusetts and made her way to the Virgin Islands in 2001.
Ashley has always had a draw to the outdoors, and guests will experience this first hand aboard Flip Flop. She grew up camping, hiking and fishing with her family all over the Rocky and Blue Ridge Mountains. Now, she looks forward to leading clients on the wondrous trails of the Virgin Islands, and sees this as one of the great opportunities she has to share her love for nature with her new friends. Many of her first experiences in the islands were led by the US Forestry Department, and her knowledge of these surroundings is vast.
On board, Ashley has a very casual and comforting style about her. She has a passion for sailing, swimming, hiking and yoga. She encourages the start to a great day with a refreshing swim followed by rich cup of French press on board. She thinks that food is at the heart of a charter, providing the same nourishment and pleasures to her guests as the Caribbean itself.
