Crew Profile

WINTER CREW NOV 1-MAY 25 BOB & MAGGIE & SUMMER 2013 CREW – JUNE 1-OCTOBER 31 SCOTT & CAROL

Bob Daigle is your Captain and Maggie the First Mate and Chef.
We are from USA, lifelong sailors, circumnavigators and USCG Master
Captains with more than 100,000 combined sailing miles offshore and inshore, cruising and racing. Born and raised in Rhode Island, we make our stateside home in Portland, Maine, where we actively race and cruise in our C&C 35’ sloop. Maine is also where we enjoyed successful corporate careers and raised two sons. When the boys flew the nest for college, we left land for a career in shorts and bare feet.

In 2009, we embarked on an 18-month 26,500-mile adventure circumnavigating the globe aboard a 60’ sloop. This life-changing voyage took us through the Panama Canal, across the South Pacific to Australia, through the turbulent Indian Ocean, around the Cape of Good Hope, across the Atlantic to Brazil and finally back home to the Caribbean. We made many new friends while enjoying their cultures, cuisines and music on more than 50 islands in 14 countries.
Personal and Professional:
• Bob enjoyed a 20-Year Career with IBM and spent 10 years as VP of Marketing & Sales for a
global knowledge services company. Maggie spent 25 years in Corporate Communications and
graphic design and was a newspaper editor.
• Maggie loves riding horses. Bob is a competitive tennis player. We both enjoy many outdoor
activities including skiing, hiking, snorkeling and fishing. Kite surfing is our next active pursuit.
• Bob’s other interests include photography, boat and home renovation, woodworking, gardening
and cooking. Maggie loves cooking & baking, photography, writing, computing and pop
culture. She speaks some French and is learning Spanish (Bob too).
• Listening to, and making music is a big part of our lives. Bob plays guitar and we both enjoy
any opportunity for a group sing-a-long.

SUMMER 2013 CREW – JUNE 1-OCTOBER 31 SCOTT & CAROL
Scott is your Captain and Carol the Hostess and Chef. Scott holds a USCG Captains License and BVI BoatMaster’s License and had a successful career in the US Navy, and as a Firefighter/EMT. He currently holds certifications as a PADI Open Water Instructor, Registered Maine Guide and recreational pilot. He most recently assisted in chartering a 42 foot Morgan in Costa Rica during the winter months and has done numerous boat deliveries up and down the East coast.

Carol brings 25 years of hospitality experience to the table ranging from owner/operator of a bed and breakfast, CFO of a brew pub, former owner/operator of the Maine Brewer’s Festival and also manages their vacation homes in Costa Rica and Moosehead Lake Maine.

Scott is a Pittsburgh native and Carol hails from Maine. They currently call Maine and Costa Rica their home. They have raised 5 children of which 3 are still in college. They are both passionate about the outdoors and can often be found on remote kayak/camping expeditions in Northern Maine, guiding moose safaris, ATV’ing and snowmobiling. Scott’s other interests include the Civil Air Patrol for which he has been involved for 43 years and leading youth programs. Carol loves wildlife photography some of which she exhibits and sells. She is also an avid sea-glass collector and designs unique creations from these treasures. She speaks French and is currently learning Spanish.

Dear Maggie and Bob,

Thank you so much for taking such good care of us! No need went unattended.
You guys are an amazing team of hosts, entertainers, tour guides and yachtsmen.

We loved the snorkeling and adventuring, seeing all the amazing natural sights and wildlife, exploring different islands and beaches and enjoying delightful meals on board. You both have a nice way of going with the flow and making perfection seem easy and relaxed. Thanks again for taking such good care of us, all agreed it was a top vacation and a must repeat.

Best,

Dear Captain Bob & Maggie
Just a note to thank you for a wonderful time aboard Silver Moon. The food, the fun, the relaxation was brilliant. The sail to Anegada was breath taking and the lobsters and bone fishing with Kevin, a highlight of the trip. Already we miss our cozy cabin, reading books on the tramp under the giant awning, and snorkeling from the bow stairs. And we’ll never forget Maggie’s galley magic. The locally caught fish dinner followed by pecan pie… or waking up to the smell of freshly baked bread. We couldn’t have asked for a better time away, or a more fun and hospitable crew. Thank you again for a fantastic time. We look forward to a return trip in 2012!

Cheers, Sofia & Sean, Mallorca Spain

¨When a vacation feels timeless you know it´s been wonderful. Enjoying the beauty of BVI, being chased away by Qatari yacht security, playing guitar and singing with Bob, eating lobster on Anegada, flying over the reefs and fishing with Kevin – these will all be part of family lore and the stories will probably be (gasp!) exaggerated just a bit over time.

Sailing with two ¨around the world¨ sailors who have taught us, laughed at and with us, spoiled us with phenomenal food and fellowship – – It just doesn´t get any better. We hope you´ll come to Birmingham and let us spoil you a bit. Or meet at Alta for a few powder runs. Or both. Can´t wit to sail with you again.

Dear Captain Bob & Maggie
A quick note to thank you for a wonderful time aboard! The sailing, hospitality, fun, music, and delicious meals were outstanding! You definitely know how to put us all at ease on the water. I’ve never been more relaxed. Ben loved taking the helm and Teddy was over the moon about the fishing. We’ll be recommending you to all our friends, so be prepared for a busy season!

Dear Captain Bob & Maggie
The 700-mile sail from Bermuda was amazing. It gave me such an appreciation for all your sea time and the oceans you crossed during you circumnavigation. I was certainly glad of your expertise on my first big offshore trip. And even in the rolling seas we ate like kings! I will never for get the incredible sunsets, night skies full of stars, freighter ships passing in the night. It all was incredible. Thank you for a truly memorable adventure on the high seas.
