Captain Alan Roberts and Captain / Chef Randeen Cayer

Alan (chef, captain, dive master)
Alan's love of the water started early, on family sailing vacations on Cape Cod and Lake Huron in the North Channel, where you can find some of the best fresh water sailing in the world. Alan spent over 20 years in the restaurant & bar industry in Canada where he learned the fine art of cooking in some of the country's finest restaurants. Alan also worked as a bartender and club manager before opening his own nightclub in the Market area of the Nations Capital. Eventually Alan decided to trade the hustle and bustle of city life for the warm waters and relaxed paced of the Caribbean. Alan is now in his 15th season of chartering in the Virgin Islands and has learned all of her secrets to make your week the most amazing vacation ever.

Randeen (chef, captain)
Randeen grew up in the chilly prairie lands of the far north. One ridiculously cold day she thought to herself "there must be a warmer place to live" , so she quit her job, bought a ticket and moved to the islands (it helped that her children were grown and she had a job that she could do online). Randeen has worn many hats throughout her working career- but her favorite is now a beach hat. Randeen's experience in corporate event panning and customer service guarantees that even the smallest details of your vacation aboard Free Ingwe will be well planned for. Randeen's menu is best described as Caribbean comfort food- tried and true meals with island twist. She expertly adapts meals and menu's to meet a variety of dietary considerations. When not in the galley Randeen happily acts as cruise director/ tour-guide leading the way on island hikes, beach bar reconnaissance and retail therapy missions.

Ritz (Admiral the dog)
Ritz joined the Free Ingwe team 6 years ago and has been living his best life ever since. This hypoallergenic fluff ball enjoys long walks on the beach, dingy rides and napping in the sunshine. Like most of our guests pancake day is his favorite day of the week.

Testimonials from guests on Free Ingwe 45 ft Catamaran

January 2023 Ladies Trip

Randeen and Alan,

Just wanted to thank you again for such a WONDERFUL week!! I have raved about how delicious the food was, and how beautiful were your presentations of it! We were spoiled, never raising a finger to get a cup of coffee, a glass of Prosecco, or anything!! You two gave us excellent advice on what to do, where to go – hiking, snorkeling, bar hopping, etc. Every day was a great adventure! So glad that you joined us in the card games Randeen!! And Alan’s rum drinks were outstanding!! It was the best vacation yet – beautiful views, great sailing, gorgeous water and beaches!
We look forward coming back next year!!
Give Ritz a hug from me!
Thank you again,
-M.S.

January 2022
What an incredible adventure! We did it all! Randeen Cayer and Alan were amazing. They anticipated our every need, were so knowledgeable about all the locations we visited, and were such hospitable hosts. They even jumped in to our silly board games! Randeen makes a delicious (yet dangerous) rum punch, and we probably enjoyed a bit too much of it! Highly recommend, we hope to sail with them again soon!

Family Vacation 2021
After postponing our trip twice due to COVID (was supposed to be in May 2020) we were finally able to go on our weeklong trip on Free Ingwe thanks to Randeen Cayer and Alan.
It has been years since just the 5 of us were able to be on a vacation together (without anyone else) and the wait was well worth it!Randeen and Alan became like part of our family. They made us feel so relaxed and were very good at helping us figure out where we wanted to go next. They know the area so well and took us to some amazing places. We got to swim with many, many sea turtles, sting rays, tons of fish and even a whole school of over 112 squid (everyone laughed at me because I counted them).Every single dish they served us was top of the line in looks and taste, better than most restaurants we’ve been to. There were rarely any leftovers from our group!! The drinks were so tasty, too.Free Ingwe was the perfect catamaran for our family and we will definitely go on the Free Ingwe again. For reference – our kids are 26, 24 and 21 and they said it was one of their favorite vacations ever! The most relaxing one by far.

We highly recommend Free Ingwe and are so thankful to Randeen and Alan for an amazing week in the US Virgin Islands

How did you enjoy your cruising vacation?
We LOVED it. It was the best vacation we’ve ever had. We want to do it again for sure and wish we were there now. It was the perfect balance of relaxation and adventure and I got some of the best sleep I’ve ever gotten gently rocking away on the boat each night. How would you describe your Captain and crew? Were they Courteous? Helpful? Friendly? Attentive? Knowledgeable?
Fantastic. They were so attentive, fun, friendly, and accommodating. They had so many great ideas on fun things to do and overall delivered a high level of service to us. We appreciated how down to earth they were. You could tell they really enjoyed what they were doing – it showed in every respect. Hanging out with them was so great – we all hit it off easily and immediately. We would definitely sail with them again in the future.Tell me about your meals? Did the menus meet your expectations? Did your Chef and Crew pay close attention to your Preference Sheets? The food was amazing. The menus definitely exceeded our expectations and we were never hungry – there were full meals, snacks, appetizers seemingly all the time. We were never left wanting for anything. They did their best to follow the preferences. You never know exactly what will be available in the islands at any given moment, but overall there was nothing we said we should avoid that was served. We were super happy with all of the food overall. We did end up a little short on liquor/beer – we had to make a pit stop for more at one point. We tried to represent that on our sheet, but maybe didn’t convey just how much we enjoy our drinks.

How is the yacht? Is she clean and well-maintained? Were your cabins comfortable? Was the cockpit comfortable? Was there enough shade?

The yacht itself was definitely clean and was generally in good working order. Our cabins were definitely comfortable – I got some of the best sleep ever in that bed. Storage space is a little tight of course, but it was definitely workable. We didn’t spend much time in the cabin anyway besides sleeping. The cockpit was awesome. Room for everyone plus a ton of shade. We definitely enjoyed relaxing there while at anchor or transiting.

What did you like most about the yacht? What did you like the least?

Available amenities were a huge plus – water toys, fishing gear, scuba and snorkel equipment and many other options were all great. The cockpit layout was also great for us.

How did you find the pace and the itinerary of your vacation?
The pace and itinerary were perfect. I think typical cruises are a day longer than we did and in hindsight that additional day would have been nice. We made it to Anegada which was our biggest hope and we were very thankful and happy we were able to.
Would you charter this yacht again? If not, please explain:

Yes we would definitely charter Free Ingwe again. It was a great balance of price and amenities. We would always shop around a bit, but I would say we’d have a hard time not going with this boat and crew again.
